Description

Christian Craighead is most well-known for his brave actions during the Nairobi DustiD2 Complex Attack. Craighead was a British SAS member in Kenya to conduct training for the local military forces. Christian was working alongside members of the Diplomatic Protective Service and had the day off when the Nairobi complex attack occurred on January 15th, 2019. Craighead rushed into the building and parking complex rescuing groups of hostages. Christian ended up killing two of the attackers and for his act of bravery, he was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross for his actions. The rifle above is the same rifle set up as he used that day in 2019.

The Colt L119A2 was a product of UK that began in 2013. The UK MoD began searching for a new rifle to replace the Special Forces’ L119A1. Those A1 rifles were coming to the end of their life, and something new was needed – and there was some thought that a new rifle could improve on some shortcomings of the A1 model. The L119A2 was produced by Colt Canada (formerly Diemaco), and it was procured in both 10″ and 15.7″ barrel lengths.

The most unique feature of the new L119A2 was the monolithic upper receiver (which was licensed by LTM). Unfortunately, the monolithic upper had major shortcomings in terms of heat retention, cleanability, and serviceability. The 10″ platform also had some shortcomings in terms of dwell time and reliability when ran unsuppressed. The A2 also came stock with the MagPul CTR stock, and Geissele triggers (an excellent improvement from the A1’s MILSPEC trigger). However same Surefire suppressors were used, as were the optics from the A1s – the new A2 tender did not include new optic (nor funding for them).

Our L119A2 is equipped with a 10.5″ vanadium alloy steel barrel for weight reduction with a Surefire Warcomp. The TYPE-A L119A2 is driven by our TYPE-A Chrome-Nitride bolt carrier group w/R.E.M Polish and equipped with a DGI (direct gas impingement) system and our enhanced MilSpec Single Stage Trigger to give it consistent reliability time after time.

NOTE: All of our rifles are Hardcoat Anodized and then Cerakoted to give you a longer lasting more durable finish. We wanted your rifle to wear to the anodized surface vs. the raw aluminum surface like some of our competitors. Just another added benefit making our rifles…TYPE-A.
